great days, part III: turkey trot

Thanksgiving morning, after getting 7 hours of hard sleep, I woke up to run the 5k Turkey Trot. After such an exhausting night at Cape Evans, it was certainly a challenge to drag myself out of bed into the freezing cold, but once the race started, I felt much better. I finished decently as well. My time was 25:36 and I was 10th among women racers. Laura finished an impressive 4th place. The jog commenced at the chapel and we ran down the Ice Runway Road and back up to the chapel. It was quite invigorating in the crisp air, but warm enough that I shed my ear warmer, neck gaiter, and gloves before I hit the ½ way point.
