Yesterday we were privied to a tour aboard the US Coast Guard ship, the Polar Sea. On one of the walls inside they have a sign that says, "Always summer, never warm." This particular ship is an icebreaker and if they are not cruising the sea ice in Antarctica, they are maneuvering through ice bergs in the Arctic. The tour was interesting. I can't imagine being on a boat for five months to come down here! Then again, I'm sure there are people who can't imagine living in a community of 1000 on a desolate continent like Antarctica; and here I am!
Today was a bit of a blue day for me. I love it here, but every now and then, there is a blah day. I did make sure to take advantage of the 44 degree weather and took a long run over Scott Base Hill; now that is an accomplishment for me. The hill returning from Scott Base is a bugger! But, I made it on my first attempt!

Hey Andrea! I haven't really talked to you in a while (next time we're both on gmail, we'll have to catch up), so I thought I'd check out the blog. The prospect of track starting is exciting, but at the same time, it depresses me to know that you won't be there to give me advice or to go out to coffee with. So I've resorted to checking out your blog. I'm really glad you're having fun! Your pictures are super sweet by the way! When do you get back to the states? We'll have to set up a starbucks date. Talk to you later I hope!
