ticking time

I realized today that I'm too tied to time. I have 3 weeks until I fly to Denver and a multitude of projects, purchases, packing, and such to take care of in that time. And, just when we think things are under control--when we offer God our plans with open hands, sometimes he takes them and shakes them up, or throws them out. In my case, he added another event to the list: I'm driving out to South Dakota tomorrow to be with my family at the funeral of my Grandma. In the midst of the Antarctic mayhem, this trip, although long, will be a break in the frenzy. It will allow some time for packages to arrive in Illinois, and a bit more planning time before my possessions get boxed up or shipped out. And, it will give me some quiet reflection time to see God's creation and enjoy the people he has put in my book of life (whether they are there for a long chapter like Grandma, or a brief page, or two).
