A summer in Antarctica wasn't exactly what I dreamed about when I was young, or something I aspired to do from college, or even something I expected to be doing last spring. But, I have been offered a unforgettable working adventure trip of sorts. Departing in October and a returning in the unknown, I'll spend roughly 5 months at the southern end of the world, shuttling folk around McMurdo Station.
The potency of prayer has subdued the strength of fire; it has bridled the rage of lions, hushed anarchy to rest, extinguished wars, appeased the elements, expelled demons, burst the chains of death, expanded the gates of heaven, assauged diseases, repelled frauds, rescued cities from destruction, stayed the sun in its course, and arrested the progress of the thunderbolt. --John Chrysostom--
